Innovations Update!
Hello. Many of you are wondering when, where and how to participate in Innovations in Textiles 2011. There are many ways to experience all of the wonderful exhibitions that will be happening. Throughout the months of August, September and October many galleries, museums and other exhibition spaces will be featuring work of artists that work with fiber. The best way to locate an exhibition is by venue. You can click on the many participating organizations and find what you are looking for.

There will be a Bus Tour, that for a price, will take you to all of the galleries that lie both in the city of St. Louis, on September 17, 2011 and a second bus tour on October 1, 2011 that will take you to the outlying venues. Finally, we have a wonderful Key Note speaker. The Former Editor of FiberArts magazine, Marci McDade will be our Key Note Speaker. Do not miss her talk. She will be speaking on September 17, 2011 at 9am at the Missouri History Museum. This is free and open to the public. After the lecture the in town bus tour will be leaving to visit the participating venues.

Key Note Speaker Innovations 2011 sponsored by the St. Louis Art Museum
Marci Rae McDade is the editor of Fiberarts magazine, the world’s leading textile arts publication in print for over thirty-five years that covers artists working with a wide range of fiber materials and techniques, news from the fiber field, trends, creative processes, exhibitions, and book reviews. In addition to an informed overview of the contemporary fiber arts field, McDade adds to her perspective with a decade of experience as a successful independent curator and exhibiting maker of 2d and 3d fiber artwork. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s department of fiber and material studies and has a BA in film and video production from Columbia College Chicago. In 2007 she was the Emerging Fiber Artist-in-Residence at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, Oregon, where she now lives. She telecommutes to Loveland, Colorado, where Fiberarts is produced at Interweave, LLC. From her home office she enjoys working with writers, artists, and arts venues from all over the world.
